My clients always ask me about fear.
Cindy, do you ever get scared?
Afraid that my dream of doing the work I’m truly meant to do is nothing but an empty fantasy.
Scared of taking my big dream, totally going for it, and failing before I get to the end.
Worried that I won’t be able to make my dream job a reality & I’d have to tell everyone that just couldn’t do it.
The short answer is yes.
I know I’m not alone. There are women all around the world who feel just like me.
If these women were standing in the same room with me, I’d tell them what the even bigger truth is about fear.
Our fear is here to serve us. It’s a guide for where we need to go next.
If you’re one of these women & you feel pulled towards a dream of impacting people with your work but fears hold you back, try using the steps I used to get unstuck.
** Trust that your fear is a guide. It’s appearing to keep you in your safe comfort zone. Any life or career change you want to make will take you outside of what’s comfortable. That’s where you’ll have to step to grow. And it’s exactly at that point that fear puts up stop signs. Feel the fear and move forward anyway.
** Decide that staying safe isn’t good enough. You desire more & you deserve it. See the value you bring & decide to share it, no matter what.
** Put pen to paper and write out your truest vision of your career.
** Make a list of every step you’ll need to take to go from where you are today to where you envision yourself being. Put the steps in order from the first thing to the last. Don’t worry about getting it perfect. You can adjust as you go.
Keep going down your list. Ask for help along the way. Celebrate as it unfolds.
Now, I know that even the thought of doing this can be completely overwhelming & paralyzing. I get it.
But don’t stop there. Reach out and get help with those first few steps. Build the momentum & watch your career unfold into directions you’ve only imagined.
With Kindness,
