I worked for companies that were more concerned about their bottom line than my growth and development. I didn’t know how to choose a company that matched my values and goals.
I stayed in a job for way too long even though I outgrew it years before. I was afraid that making a change would cause me to lose it all – my income, my reputation, everything I’ve worked so hard to build.
I took the first job that came along, even though something about it didn’t quite feel right. I didn’t know how to sell myself with confidence and grace in an interview so that I could get the job I really wanted.
I knew deep inside that the career path I was on wasn’t letting me thrive in the way I knew in my heart that I could.
Let’s just say that my hunger for a career that really meant something didn’t go away. I just couldn’t figure out how to get from here to there.
Me being me, I tried to find a solution. I researched online, talked to friends, networked, switched companies, took new jobs, asked for more & more feedback, and tried to fix everything they said I was doing wrong. It was never enough.
But, here’s the game-changing lesson I learned along the way.
I learned that transforming my career wasn’t a solo journey. If I kept trying to figure out the work I was truly meant to do on my own, I’d stay in the same sad place. I couldn’t see myself objectively. I had to get help (and that didn’t mean more Google searches or chats with my girlfriends over dinner). It was time for the curtains to go down on this one-woman-show.
Things shifted for me in a big way when I started working with my first Coach. Dots connected in a way that I’d never experienced before! I did the work to transform myself & make my career vision my reality.
Today, I’ve mastered my natural genius of figuring out what makes you thrive in your career at the highest level…even if this is cloudy and congested in your own mind.
